چکیده

We analyze the effect of plasma screening on nuclear reaction rates in dense matter composed of atomic nuclei of one or two types. We perform semiclassical calculations of the Coulomb barrier penetrability taking into account a radial mean-field potential of plasma ions. The mean-field potential is extracted from the results of extensive Monte Carlo calculations of radial pair distribution functions of ions in binary ionic mixtures. We calculate the reaction rates in a wide range of plasma parameters and approximate these rates by an analytical expression that is expected to be applicable to multicomponent ion mixtures. Also, we analyze Gamow-peak energies of reacting ions in various nuclear burning regimes. For illustration, we study nuclear burning in 12C-16O mixtures.

Corrections to Linear Mixing in Binary Ionic Mixtures and Plasma Screening at Zero Separation

Using the results of extensive Monte Carlo simulations we discuss corrections to the linear mixing rule in strongly coupled binary ionic mixtures. We analyze the plasma screening function at zero separation, Hjk (0), for two ions (of types j = 1, 2 and k=1,2) in a strongly coupled binary mixture. The function Hjk (0) is estimated by two methods: (1) from the difference of Helmholtz Coulomb free...

Investigation of Solid Dispersion Technique in Improvement of Physicochemical Characteristics of Ibuprofen Powder

Ibuprofen solid dispersions were prepared by the solvent and fusion-solvent methods using polyethylene glycol (PEG), polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), eudragit RS PO, eudragit RL PO and hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) as carriers to improve physicochemical characteristics of ibuprofen. The prepared solid dispersions were evaluated for the flowability, solubility characteristics and dissoluti...

Screening Potential for Nuclear Reactions in Condensed Matter

Screening for nuclear reactions in metal plays an important role in enhancing reaction cross sections in the ultra-low energy region. A simple extrapolation of the screening potential down to the thermal energy region from the keV beam experiment predicts the occurrence of “cold fusion” D+D reactions. In the present work, results so far obtained in low-energy beam experiments will be overviewed...

Molecular Simulation and Theory of Reactions in Supercritical Fluid Mixtures: Ionic Association in Supercritical Aqueous Solutions

Molecular simulation is a powerful tool for understanding and predicting thermophysical properties in systems both at equilibrium and away from equilibrium and composed of molecules ranging in complexity from spherically symmetric monatomic molecules to polymers. In recent years, our research group has applied molecular simulation to the study of supercritical aqueous solutions with the goal of...

Determination of 137Ba Isotope Abundances in Water Samples by Inductively Coupled Plasma-optical Emission Spectrometry Combined with Least-squares Support Vector Machine Regression

A simple and rapid method for the determination of 137Ba isotope abundances in water samples by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) coupled with least-squares support vector machine regression (LS-SVM) is reported. By evaluation of emission lines of barium, it was found that the emission line at 493.408 nm provides the best results for the determination...
